Adjoining Nook
End farm Nook End Annexe and Nook End Studio
are fully self
contained cottage accomodation for two or four people. The annex overlooks the old farmyard
flanked by out buildings and dry stone walls. The barn is a beautiful
structure in itself and compliments the main house. From the entrance
door you step into a well equipped kitchen with fitted units and
is suitable for two to dine in.
A small flight of steps lead up to the sitting room in the Annexe.
This is a delightful area with timbered floors and half pitched
timber clad and beamed ceiling. The furniture is of the same high
standard as the main house with two sofas, antique occasional pieces
and a dining table for 4 people. The bedroom again is furnished
with care and attention with a feature double bed. There are two
bathrooms, one ensuite to the bedroom. Each has a half bath with
overhead shower, wash hand basin and WC. This is a delightful and
spacious addition to Nook End and is in the same high standards
as the main house.
Nook End Farm is in the fells above Ambleside and has an air of
complete peace and tranquillity, surrounded by nature, magnificent
views and local walks. On all four points of the compass you see
fell, mountain or lake with views of Loughrigg, the Langdales,
Rydal Fell, Sweden Bridge and Lake Windermere.
Country walks start literally outside the front door
and you can be on the fells within a few steps. Head out over the
bridge, (where you can swim in the beck), past the waterfalls and
onto Scandale, through to Deep Dale and on towards Ullswater, or
work your way to Rydal Fell and onto Fairfield.
Ambleside is half a mile away and Grasmere
is a few miles to the north. Both these well known villages offer
shops, pubs and restaurants as well as being historically interesting
to explore.Wordsworth's home at Rydal and his tomb at Grasmere
are only a short distance away and can easily be walked to.
There is much to make an enjoyable and entertaining
stay, but for most guests it is the combination of setting and
building that is so special to Nook End. Sitting on the terrace
or in the old cottage garden with only the sound of sheep, birds
and the hum of bees rising above pure tranquility.
